ASK any number of people the question: "How fast can you lose fat?"...and you will get a variety of answers. Ask the quick fix weight-loss industry, and they will tell you you can lose 10, 20, 30 or more pounds of weight almost instantly. Of course, most of their promised loss is water from muscle, which is over 70% water. This muscle loss leaves you flabbier with a higher percentage body fat. Losing weight is not the same as losing body fat. In addition, the weight comes back as quickly as it was lost. Ask a surgeon how fast you can lose fat, and he/she will tell you they can permanently remove your fat cells in one operation. But, they usually aren't as quick to tell you how easy it is to immediately start growing new fat cells as you continue to overeat. Ask some nutritionists and/or dietitians how fast you can lose fat, and they might warn you to lose no more than 2 pounds of body fat a week on a diet, even though it is |
possible to safely lose more than that without sacrificing muscle. (See Accelerated Fat Loss.) Some dietitians will also tell you that the slower you lose weight, the more likely you are to keep it off. But, this is often not the case. Just because you draw out a diet over a long period doesn't necessarily mean you will have the skill to keep the weight off when your diet's over. You can regain weight just as quickly as anyone else, unless you have learned to properly balance your calorie intake and energy output...this is known as your energy balance. Unfortunately, diets alone never teach you how to properly modify your energy balance to keep weight off, no matter how slowly you follow a diet. You may need a diet, but a diet is the last thing you need. First, you must learn to modify your energy balance correctly. Then you can lose body fat at any rate you choose, and keep it off. The program here at bodyfatguide.com will show you how to do that. |
| Of course, a good weight-loss
program should also help you avoid sacrificing muscle as you lose body
fat. And, you shouldn't have to risk your health with unbalanced diets and
dangerous drugs and supplements. The weight-management program on this web
site will allow you to avoid these problems.
However, getting back to the question of how fast you can lose fat, even if you learn how to modify your energy balance, there is another important consideration when choosing your rate of fat loss. If you are overly restrictive with your calorie intake, either in quantity or variety of foods, you are more likely to rebound binge and undo all of your progress. Therefore, a crucial key to success is choosing a rate of body-fat loss that is comfortably manageable for you, no matter how fast or slow you lose fat. To help you select a comfortable rate of fat loss, you need a program that provides you |
with a wide variety of flexible choices. Regardless of what you
eat, when you eat and how much you eat, and regardless of whether you choose to
be very active or relatively inactive, there should be a comfortable rate of fat
loss you can select that is just right for you.
Following the energy balance numbers in the program on this site offers you the widest, most flexible range of selections when determining a comfortable rate of fat loss. Following the numbers guides you as you learn to modify your energy balance and form new lifestyle habits to keep the weight off. If you could achieve all this without using the numbers, you probably wouldn't have developed a weight problem in the first place! For the easiest, quickest,
safest and least expensive way to measure and permanently trim body fat at a
rate that is comfortably manageable for you, check out |
