How Fat Are You?
"How fat am I? I don’t want to know!" IF YOU ARE thinking something similar to the above statement, and you are feeling anxious and intimidated, don’t worry. You will probably be interested in skipping ahead to the next chapter, Pounds Don’t Count. It will encourage you with a fresh point of view. Otherwise, if you have the stomach for it (yes, that was intended to be a pun), read on. This book contains Body Composition
Tables* that allow you to instantly and
accurately analyze your level of muscle |
In the Table of Contents, find the section in Part Two of this book that lists your sex and weight class. Turn to that section and proceed to the page that lists your waist size across the top of the page. Waist sizes are listed in numerical order in differences of 1/4 of an inch. If your weight or waist size is not listed, turn to the section titled Special Weight Class—Male and Female. On the page with your waist size, find your weight in the column on the left. Move to the right in the row with your weight until you are in the box under your waist size. The number in the first of the four columns of that box is your percentage body fat. Healthy adult males should have no higher than approximately 15% body fat and healthy adult females should have no higher than approximately 22% body fat. |
